Christmas PIllow Sleeve

For years I have been changing my Pillow Sleeves per season. I think of it as re-use, re-cycle a RED Minky Pillow that gets used all year round. I have to admit I have this thing for RED TRUCKS so when I came across this seasonal panel of Christmas Scenes, this red truck stood out. It is only a 10 inch square so it is perfect for the front of the pillow.

These Pillow Sleeves as I call them slip onto a 24 inch by 12 inch pillow. As red is always a perfect accent in our home, this seemed a good choice for us. Add some ruffles, ( gotta to have ruffles) layer it with some quilt batting and a bit of stitching and here you are....

So find your fabric panel block or a fabric that has a unique design...but a 10 inch square.

A staple pillow, 24 x 12 inches.
I covered it with a red minky and made a custom white pillow filled with goose down,
optional, stuffing of your choice.

Cut blocks and choose a fabric that will compliment, I chose this light grey
12 inch by 30 inches in length

I like ruffles, 3 inches in width and mine were approx 60 inches in length.
I like them full so I usually go double the lenght and width of what I am covering.
I added a thin red trim on the tips.

Now ready to iron a fusible web on the block only.
same size as block.

Pin ruffles towards centre of pillow as you will be added a contrast
piece of fabric stitch 1/2 from seam

Added white lining, pin again and stitch 1/2 seam

Turn right side out. PRESS.

WRAP AROUND PILLOW!

Sew on some trees and snowflake buttons from shellysandmore! I ev.en had a moose and some decorating bulbs for a tree

Pin pieces together and stitch by end seam.

Just another holiday gift giving idea. Took me a couple of hours!

                                                                           Because you matter.
